6 Things You Need to Do Before the Summer Ends

Summer is a time of fun and excitement, especially for kids. After all, school is out and they have a bit of freedom until the new school year starts. Whether you have the summer off or you simply are looking for some fun things to do with your kids and family before the summer ends, check out these must do activities.

  1. Go on a Nature Walk

Find a local spot that is full of nature and go on a walk. Make sure to take a sketch pad, binoculars, and a pen along with you, so you can observe bugs and birds along the way. To make the adventure even more interesting, have each person in the group draw something interesting they see on the trip and then later on when you get home, everyone can share their drawings with one another.

  1. Go for a Swim and Take the Dog!

If you have a pool in your backyard, go for a swim over the summer and let the dog join you in the pool. You can have a BBQ and reminisce on the past year. If you do not have a pool, consider purchasing a sprinkler attachment that will allow your kids to run around and enjoy the water without the form pool walls.

  1. Go on a Picnic

The summer is the perfect time to go out on a picnic. You can pick a quiet spot next to a lake and enjoy sandwiches and fresh squeezed lemonade. While you are on the picnic, take a moment to lie back and gaze at the clouds. You never know what shapes you will find.

  1. Go for a Bike Ride

If you have not had a chance to take the family bikes out of storage, now is the perfect opportunity to do so. You can ride around the neighborhood or even load the bikes up and head for a trail somewhere. Bike riding is a great way to enjoy nature while also working out your muscles. Just remember, bring plenty of water along for the ride.

  1. Make Popsicles and Mud Pies

Who doesn’t love a delicious, cool popsicle on a hot day? Or, who doesn’t love a dirt/mud pie to eat? Take some time out of your busy day and experiment with different popsicle flavors and pudding flavors for your mud pie. Everyone can relax on the back porch while trying the homemade concoctions.

  1. Declutter You Home

While this may seem more like a chore, you can have some fun with it and it needs to be done. Decluttering your home during the summer is the best way to get rid of old items that you will not use. To help make it fun, turn it into a game and include everyone in the family.

The above six things are activities that you need to do before the summer is over. The most important part about summer is enjoying your time together as a family!
